Show Ramayana Ballet
October 13, 2009
Ramayana is the best example of the story is the story of Java inscribed on the wall at the Shiva Temple in Prambanan temple complex legacy. Prambanan Ramayana version is somewhat different with the story of his native India, which reflects the adaptation to Javanese culture for centuries.
Currently, the Ramayana is adjusted for the performing arts. Since the 1960s, hundreds of dancers have turned the story of ancient reliefs into an open stage performance at Prambanan, located in the western part of the temple complex. Basically, as a traditional dance drama without a long dialogue, the Ramayana Ballet or Ballet – an acronym of drama and dance – is a good performance with heroism, tragedy, romance and persecution to satisfy the audience. Everything is staged in the moonlight with the background Roro Jonggrang Temple.
Ramayana story consists of four episodes, with one episode each night’s performance, which was brought from 07.30 till 09.30 night for four nights in a row, every month from May to October. Full story delivered at Trimurti Theater every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, hosted by more than 50 professional dancers.
